Coldwater
Public School History
1830 - First school in Coldwater – west side main street in
the southern end of the village – also used as a Methodist
Church to hold services until they could build a church -
when the school population grew they used the Church to hold
classes till a new school was built.
-1875 - The school was the first brick building in Coldwater-built
near the middle of the village.
-1890 –Gray ST. and Craddock ST. became the site of the new
school and an addition was built to this building in 1904.
-1908- Continuation school started in public school went as
high as fourth form (approx. grade 10).
1923 –continuation school built (presently Coldwater Apartments)
1948 –Coldwater became part of the Orillia high school area
- senior students were transported to and from Orillia.
1949-continuation school closed – all high school students
went to Orillia
